Mangalore city bus transport system - A list of city bus route no.'s list is given below:
To visit tourist places and enjoy in Mangaluru, knowing about local city buses is a must. Bus facility or local bus transport system is good. Each city bus has route no. that makes easy for first time travelers. There are Volvo buses for luxury travel. Local buses are often available at Kankanadi, Jyothi theatre or State Bank which is near the D.C. Office. Both private and government owned buses operate within the city and outside. The city buses are very busy with traffic on working days. Local bus routes have maintained a good reputation within and outside the city. Office hours are rush hours for city buses. State government has introduced green NURM buses which travel to places where private buses are rare. Express buses take the passengers to nearby towns like Udupi, Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia, Karkala, Kundapur, Bhatkal, Manjeshwar, Kumble, Kasaragod, Gurupur, Kateel, Bajpe and Moodabidri. Express and ordinary travel buses are at Hampankatta bus stand near Nehru Maidan. Express Bus transport has made life easier for the local people to travel to the nearby towns and cities.

City buses start early morning at 6 a.m. and end at 8.30 or 9.00 p.m. Please note that there may be changes in the given list of City buses and their numbers. Check for the places to go with the bus conductor before boarding a bus.

Mangalore local bus (express and service bus) timings: To travel from Mangalore to Moodabidri - Karkala or Mangalore to Udupi, there are buses every 5 -10 minutes either from city (service) bus stand near State Bank or from the bus stop near Jyoti theatre (opposite Gold Finch Hotel). Bus service starts at 6.30 A.M. and ends at 8.30 P.M.

Mangalore to Kollur bus timings: A visit to Kollur Mookambika temple is possible by direct buses or by buses that travel to Udupi and Kundapur. From Udupi or Kundapur bus stand, travel to Kollur by another bus. Time taken to reach Kollur from Mangalore is 3.5 - 4 hours. Mangalore to Kollur buses start at 7.30 am.

Mangalore to Shivamogga (Shimoga) bus timings: Shimoga buses start from Service bus stand near State Bank. There are mini buses  It takes nearly 5 hours to cover 192km by bus(via Udupi) to reach the place. Durgamba Motors and Ganesh Tourist buses are luxury buses that travel at 9.00pm in the night. Tickets can be booked through redbus app or redbus.in website. Lot of buses operate from Udupi bus stand also.

KSRTC Bus on the road

KSRTC and Private Bus timings - Mangalore to Mudipu: KSRTC bus service starts at 6 A.M. from KSRTC bus stand. From Mudipu it starts at 6.25 A.M. Then onwards every 45-50 minutes there are buses upto 9.30 P.M. in the night. But private buses moving towards the city start at 6.40 A.M. and end at 6.20 P.M.
